We Are In Crisis
My fellow Americans, we’ve recently had an election. Within two months, either myself or my opponent will be sworn in to the office of the American Presidency.
The Presidency is an extremely powerful position, and with such power comes great responsibility. I recognize that it is critical to the health of our nation and civilization that the office of the Presidency is recognized and respected by the vast majority of our body politic. I further recognize that neither I nor my opponent may command that respect. We have to earn it.
Given the polarization that we are seeing in our polity, given the extremely close margins in this election, and given the serious concerns regarding election integrity which are being raised by nearly half of voters, I and my opponent have discussed the problem of bringing Americans together in unity behind whatever government is in power at the end of January, along with ways we can restore faith in our electoral process and our vote integrity.
Both I and my opponent have agreed to the following, regardless of who wins and is installed in office on January 20, 2021:
Blue Ribbon Panel
We will set up a blue-ribbon panel made up of equal numbers of election judges and experts assigned by myself and my opponent.
This panel will be charged with auditing the election processes and results in every state in our union during this election cycle, with a full report required by January 2022 on election standards.
Critical impasses on core standards questions that cannot be resolved will be decided by the Supreme Court on an emergency basis.
The report will form the basis for election standards that must be used in every vote for federal office on pain of losing federal funds to any state which refuses to comply.
The 2022 mid-term elections will conform to the new standards
After delivering the report, the panel will continue to operate on an investigatory capacity on the 2020 election cycle, and will have powers of subpoena and criminal referral. These powers will be rigorously supported by the FBI and other federal agencies. Anyone proven to have defrauded the American people in this election cycle by breaking or ignoring laws, by applying standards unequally or by negligence in upholding the election safeguards and required practices, will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
I Will Resign
Regardless of the contents of the Blue Ribbon Panel report, and regardless of any other factors in play in our country or body politic, I will resign the office of the President on February 1, 2022. My Vice President will also resign.
In this way, the newly-elected Speaker of the House will become the President in 2022, and the 2022 mid-term elections will in effect become an election for a President who is not compromised with questions about vote integrity.
I and my Vice President, and my opponent and his Vice President, are all assigning sworn affidavits that we will abide by this agreement under penalty of perjury, so that we will be impeached and removed if we do not abide by the agreement.
We Will Get Through This
I and my opponent are in agreement that our country has become dangerously polarized, and people are viewing their neighbors and countrymen with suspicion and fear.
Over the next two years, we will disagree, we will propose legislation, we will oppose each other, we will argue the merits, and we will survive.
We ask that you give us the opportunity to restore faith in the validity of our governance of this great nation, as we walk through this process to investigate, correct and validate election standards that will ensure we can avoid the serious doubt that has been raised in this election cycle.
We ask that you extend patience, fellowship and understanding to people who may be upset by this election, or by the decision we have made here.
The world is watching us; as one of the world’s oldest and largest Democratic Republics, they are looking to see if we can resolve our differences and move forward toward in unity, or if we will continue to fracture into divisiveness and breakdown.
At the end of the day, we are Americans, and our American experiment in self-government is not over. Our light has dimmed, but it is not out. We can and we will recover. We will restore your faith in our elections.
Thank you and God bless you all.
